FUTURE FLOW SHEPPARTON MODERNIZATION PROJECT – 2008

The Shepparton Modernization Project in which Syndicate Engineering carried out the installation and retrofitting of 460 frames and minor civil works along major supply irrigation channels throughout the Shepparton Irrigation District.  Syndicate Engineering was the preferred contract supplier and managed this project in partnership with Future Flow. Syndicate Engineering was involved in the commissioning of the new flume gates to the old irrigation concrete structures. This involved pressure washing the old concrete structures, removing old drop bars, concrete walkways and handrails so they could then be retrofitted with the new model flume gate. The retrofitting process also included minor civil works to enable the external frame installation. Syndicate Engineering had up to 14 crews working along a 200 kilometer network, installing 450 gates over the shutdown period. Superior coordination and project management ensured that the new flume gates were installed with accuracy, on time and under budget. We were able to finish the contracted gates 3 weeks earlier than scheduled.  As a result Syndicate Engineering was called upon by NVIRP to commence early works on civil works and external frame and gate installation in the Central Goulburn Irrigation area.

EAST GOULBURN MAIN OFF TAKE

Syndicate Engineering carried out the installation work on the East Goulburn Main Off take for Future Flow.  This involved external frame installation, gate installation and custom fabricated handrails and walkways.  This is one of the major infrastructure upgrades in the system and in partnership with Future Flow Syndicate Engineering delivered this major external structural work on time, hence demonstrating excellent value for money. There were significant OH&S issues, therefore Syndicate Engineering worked with Future Flow to ensure the highest level of safety was complied with and achieved zero loss time injuries. The East Goulburn Main off Take major structural works was videoed and used as demonstration to the government and for media profile of the Future Flow.

NORTHERN VICTORIAN IRRIGATION RENEWAL PROJECT - 2008

In 2008, Syndicate Engineering was called upon by NVIRP to complete installation of 120 new Flume gates, retrofitting of frames and civil works along major supply irrigation channels throughout the Central Goulburn Irrigation District.  Syndicate Engineering was involved in all of the stages to retro-fit the new flume gates to the old irrigation concrete structures. This involved pressure washing the old concrete structures, removing old drop bars, concrete walkways and handrails so they could then be retrofitted with the new model flume gate.   The retrofitting process also included minor civil works to enable the external frame installation. Syndicate also installed new Type 2 & 3 structures. Syndicate Engineering had up to 3 civil crews, 3 frame crews and 2 gate installation crews working along 100 kilometer network of irrigation channeling, installing up to 20 gates per day.  120 gates were installed over 3 weeks. Syndicates experienced team and can do attitude enabled the gates to be installed successfully and on time.

FUTURE FLOW TYPE 3 INSTALLATIONS - NVIRP/BBS 2009.

In 2009 Syndicate won a Tender for the complete installation of 50 new Type 3 structures, Frames, Gates and Handrails. With this a new challenge was put in front of Syndicate, the supply and coordination of earthworks, and the supply of materials. This project gave our team the experience and confidence to deliver quality major civil and earthworks. During the same irrigation period we were contracted by Bilfinger Berger Services to carry out their civil works, External frame, Flume gate and Handrail installation. Only a small Project by comparison to others Syndicate has undertaken but by far the most challenging yet, because of problems with the supply of pre-cast concrete structures and 40% of our sites needing them. However we promptly sourced the equipment, materials, training and experienced trade’s people to form and pour our Type 2 & 3 structures onsite. With a 5 week delayed start and a rare wet winter Syndicates use of local suppliers and trades people proved to be a major contributor to all the required Flume gates in Central Goulburn to be installed by the deadline. During the peak of the 09 project we assisted other areas with experienced frame installers and trained new ones under Syndicate’s supervision to assure the project’s success. This just further proves our commitment and understanding of a successful irrigation winter shut down program.

HANSEN YUNCKEN (FABRICATION EXPERIENCE)

Darley Park, located near Seymour is the largest horse stable in Australia.  This $30 million project was funded by the Emirates and contracted to Hansen Yuncken.  In 2007, Syndicate Engineering were called upon to provide the structural steel fit-out, and all steel fabrication works associated with the development of this large stable complex. As the preferred tendered was non compliant. Syndicate Engineering were called in 2 months prior to completion and proved amazing flexibility to work on a very tight time line and deliver an outstanding result on budget. Syndicate Engineering operated this $1 million contract and delivered it over 6 months with 10 employees working on site and in the workshop to facilitate this major project. Since then Syndicate Engineering has been contracted directly by Emirates to construct shedding and horse walker/ tred mill at the stud facility in Scone in NSW. Hansen Yuncken has also contracted Syndicate Engineering to construct renovations on Fairley’s IGA in Shepparton and works to the new Nathalia Hospital.  General workshop fabrication and specialty engineering works are also completed for Hansen Yuncken upon request.  We have established this good working relationship with Hansen Yuncken, proving good project management skills, quality of workmanship and reliability to get the contracts completed on time and on budget.
